After the Eddy Matzger skate workshop the week before, I kind of got to know what some of the other options were for skates out there. I had ordered a pair of K2 Radical 90's but the boot was ending up just a LITTle bit too big. So I visited the North Texas Skate shop on the web and decided to try a pair of Powerslide R4 boots with the Venom 12.8 frame for 4 90mm wheels. Ok...so this was a little pricey but still POSSIbly cheaper than some bikes one could buy. ~_^
Anyway, the first skate on the R4's today was a partial success. (I didn't break any bones skating in new skates *and* managed without a heel brake!) From reading the various blogs around the e-space, a lot of the higher end boots take more than a 30 minute skate to figure out how well the fit is. I guess I'll give them a few more skates before deciding on the next step.
I confessed to another skate club member that I must be a fanatic now 'having bought 2 pairs of skates in the last 2 weeks in search of better fit and speed. Her reply was if *that* made me a fanatic, she wasn't sure what she was since she has about 10 pairs of skates! Ah such a high bar! ^_^
Well, other than that, preparations are still underway to head on over the Pacific Ocean for a few weeks soon. Will everything fit in the *one* suitcase? I think not. < triple latte deep sigh > Oh and I'm leaving the skates state-side this time...but that doesn't exclude the chance of possibly trying for a skate workshop some time up in the PNW next year!
