and nonsense...
So far the count has been 2 absolutely great pair of earrings...one set from Ann and another set from Bill, Jeff and Ed both found at the annual Art on the Avenue show locally here in Arlington/Alexandria and 2 pounds of Hawaiian Kona coffee. ^_^ We took over 3 hours to walk a mere 10 blocks worth of vendor booths and it was too tempting in too many places. I bought for myself 2 bowls that I'll have to post snapshots on the next post. Earlier presents include Season 1 NCIS (Abby!!!!), extra bed pillows and a few other items that we've now forgotten about (but they still count.) ~_^
Later on, they all treated me to a dinner in Old Town Alexandria at a Thai restaurant "Mai Thai." It was located right down on the water near the intersection of Union and King St., so when a particularly high tide occurred, the streets flooded and we had to walk out of the restaurant on sand bags. The food was great, the company good and the unexpected flooding made for quite an interesting evening.
Today Ann and I did some shopping in Dupont Circle, though one particular item we were seeking was not yet available. Every year we try to buy the Zodiac-critter-of-the-year at a particular Japanese goods shop, Ginza, but it was too early. We'll just have to get back there later in November or December. Afterward we took a rather pleasant walk up to Woodley Park and enjoyed a sidewalk table lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant we have frequented over the past 6 years. We decided to order just appetizers today, grape leaves, Bobba ghanouj, spicy lamb sausage and spinach & corn risotto. It was juuuuust right.
I couldn't ask for much more than being with friends for remembering one's birthday. (Well, it's actually Monday for that but I'll be back down south tomorrow so we did everything on the weekend.)
