I just started a formal fitness program with a DC skate club this past week. It's an interesting change for me as almost all of my skating to date has been solo, but I'm enjoying it as I'm finally getting to know some other skaters...even if I do have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get to the practices. ~_~;

This past Sunday was the kick-off with a fairly laid back skate (only 12 miles I think ) so the head coach could familiarize herself with all of this session's participants. I think there were about 20 skaters there...easily 15 of which I could *never* keep up with. < sigh >

Another very humbling moment that occurred during this session was during a hill climb. The coach was giving tips on how to tackle things and as we neared the peak she asked what was my heart rate at that moment. My watch said around 172, which I pretty much consider my training maximum. She looked down at hers and it read 137. >_<;;;;;

Boy do I have a loooooong ways to go!

Alright...stay with me here...we have a new "system" out at work whose intent was to "unify" the mail/browser/document/spreadsheet/presentation/calendar software of EVERYone in the agency! "People" were getting "tired" of incompatible attachments and the such...I guess...

The "system"'s name is NOMAD. I won't even try to tell you what the acronym really stands for. Basically if you have a Windoz PC you *will* use Outlook/Explorer/Microsoft Powerpoint/Excel. You will not use Eudora, Firefox, Thunderbird or any other "non-approved" software.

Well...except if you have a Linux box. Then you use Firefox and Thunderbird. If you have a Mac? Ah...don't ask.

Now where was I? Oh yeah...NOMAD also switched everyone over to IMAP rather than POP for mail. Yeah yeah...big whiff...whatever. One gotcha though is the "spam" filter that got slapped on there.

I'm on a distribution list for computer security bulletins. NOMAD decided one of the these bulletins was spam...so it got flagged as such. Mac Mail then saw NOMAD's message to me about the computer security bulletin being spam and thought it was Junk.

Oh...the irony...
