New Hampshire - Entry#3
Oct. 29th, 2003 05:18 amIt's a dark and rainy morning out there. Multiple sounds creep around the partially open patio door; the continuous splatter of rain on the porch is punctuated by a drip-drip-drip of water from the roof; eventually I expect to hear a < urrow > as Milo (my parent's cat, the local ruling queen) returns, albeit a bit soggy by now, from a morning romp.
Such a contrast from yesterday's deep blue skies and bright sun. By New Hampshire standards, it had warmed up quite a bit, maybe getting in to the mid-sixties. The breeze was light. Fortunately the roads (and trails) dried quickly from Monday's rains and I launched out on my first trail skate.
It is a fairly short section of an old Boston & Maine right-of-way and, this being late October, was also strewn with leaves. A few of them wet leaves. Warning! Warning! Danger Will Robinson! It was still a decent, but rather short skate. There really weren't any areas that were sufficiently large nor not-rough to practice any of the drills from my last 2 lessons. Maybe next time.
At the moment, I'm still sore in the arms from my physical evaluation with the personal trainer. The second session with him went quite well as he provided me with a long list of upper-body exercises and some diagrams for working on lower-body flexibility. I still can't open up my skates enough to even come close to the *spin* part of the spin stop. No way, Jose! siiiiiigh...
The local PFLAG group is having a presenter tonight, so I'll be heading in with my mother to attend that. I'm getting the impression that I'm the lone rep. to the "T" of the GLBT in this particular crowd, though one just never knows for sure. :)
