Otaku-con virgin

sigh...I finally did it. My first 'con. It really was kind of fun. Not that big, no really big lines...at least when *I* finally got there, 2 rather large rooms...one room with vendors of all sorts showing manga, anime, toys, plushies, kimono, sundry cos-play outfits and accessories, hentai manga--the other mostly consisting of the artist row--and add on another 8 or so small rooms for lectures, demos, gaming and videos. No names there that I really recognized except for maybe TokyoPop, but still quite fun. (No Dom or Piro...darn...) ~_~ The cos-play was actually the most entertaining part of the afternoon.

I guess I was kind of in costume for a particular character, but I'm not sure anyone would have really picked up on it. ANYway, I'll be back there tomorrow to pass through the artist row again and have another look-see at the auction tables.

I picked up a flier for the 'con in the DC/MD region next year, but from what I've heard that con is a *beeeeg* one with lines and crowds galore...hmmm...who knows...

Hey... she's finally deflowered! Congratulations!

The nekocon web server is overloaded and isn't allowing anyone in at the moment.

Do they have music videos at nekocon? As I've mentioned earlier this year, those are some of the best fun at a con.

And, yes, you ought to go to Otakon in the summer. I think it's the biggest outside of AX IIRC as far as U.S. cons go -- so there should be lots of big names -- plus probably Piro.

Yeah...there is a whole music video event. It's funny that it didn't really occur to me to look for it until you mentioned it. < sigh > Part of my con-neophyte status I guess...

On this morning's schedule is a recruitment session for the DC con next year.

Oh... Katsucon... don't know too much about that one. I thought you'd be shooting for the giant one (Otakon) in Baltimore.

Working at a big con seems like too much tedium with too little fun for me -- but I wouldn't have been so crazy as to volunteer at Esprit my first year there, either -- so whatever floats your boat. While at AX it struck me that to volunteer one has to give up caring much about anime; the volunteers had to sacrifice their attendence at too many to-die-for events.
